The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter's major raffle was drawn live this afternoon in front of a excited crowd at Lismore Central shopping centre. Plenty of onlookers were on hand keen to see if it was their winning ticket that made it first out of the barrel.
The raffle which started in July last year has travelled all across the region with rescue helicopter volunteers selling tickets in shopping centres, on CBD sidewalks, local markets and at events. In all, tens of thousands of tickets were sold to raise over $80,000 in support to help the rescue helicopter service to save lives.
Fundraising Manager for the rescue helicopters, Zeke Huish, commented "We've been so fortunate to have the tremendous support of the community with their purchase of raffle tickets."
"Our thanks go to everyone who has made the raffle a huge success and to our hard working volunteers who have given hundreds of hours of devoted time and energy to sell tickets right across our region".
Lismore Mayor Jenny Dowell was on hand to help draw the winning ticket which was ticket no. 55213 - D Buckly, who won a boat & trailer package thanks to the support of Disco Marine in Grafton. Second prize being a $2,000 grocery voucher was won by R Pullen - ticket no. 24727, while the third prize being a $1,000 fuel voucher was won by E Knight - ticket no. 06485.
