The Ballina to Byron Bay Charity Walk,  Sunday 20th May,  is a 37km coastal walk to raise money for, and celebrate the 30th anniversary of Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter.

The event is open to teams of 4 who can choose to walk one, two, or three legs of the walk.

You are encouraged to participate in the Walk , regardless of fitness level, age or background, to thank Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter for 30 years of service, experience great personal achievement and enjoy the beautiful coastline.

Get a team of four people together, register your team, design your fundraising strategy and start training!

We will be there every step of the way to support you.

Events coordinator Krystal Cox has promised an exciting year for the community rescue helicopter’s events.

“This year will be exciting as it is not only our 30th anniversary but we are launching a brand new event – the Ballina to Byron Bay Charity Walk,” Krystal said.

“We want to put the fun back into fundraising and our 2012 calendar of events will do just that.”

Trinity Drive Christmas Lights

Houses in Trinity Drive, Lismore will once again light up for Christmas and the Helicopter. From 12th to 24th December you can view this wonderful display and help support the rescue helicopter. Santa will be there with lollies for the kids along with helicopter crew and staff.  Summer season is usually the busiest time of the year when the Helicopter can fly between 6-7 missions a day. This leads to increased costs as the helicopters need to be serviced more frequently. Your donations will be greatly appreciated.

Yellow Pages Corporate Charity Golf Day a hit for Helicopter

The Yellow Pages Corporate Charity Golf Day held at the Ballina Golf and Sports Club on Friday was a great success and broke all club records for the number of players taking part in a corporate golf day at the Club.

Helicopter General Manager Kris Beavis said 160 players teed off on the day.

“The day was booked out a week before the event,” Mr Beavis said.

“The strong demand shows the high value the community places on the rescue helicopter. We are very grateful to Yellow Pages and Ballina Golf and Sports Club and all participating businesses and players for supporting the community rescue helicopter.”

Yellow Pages Hell on Wheels Cycle Tour, 2011 8-15 OctThe riders are registered and ready to go; the route is planned, support teams are in place and the accommodation is booked!

All is in place for the start of the Yellow Pages Hell on Wheels Cycle Tour, 600 grueling kilometers of mountain bike trails over 8 days from 8-15 October, 2011.

Now it’s up to the community to get behind the riders and support them and your community helicopter.

Hell on Wheels Cycle Tour OCTOBER 8-15

The Hell on Wheels Cycle Tour is a Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter fundraising event that sees up to 50 cyclists ride over 600km in around eight days. Founded in 1998, the tour appeals to mountain bike riders of all levels and ages and from all over Australia. It takes place in October each year, and travels through different towns throughout the rescue helicopter’s north coast flight region. Throughout the tour, riders actively engage with local communities, and regularly make guest appearances at local schools. To participate, riders pay a registration fee that covers their expenses (accommodation, some meals etc). As well, each rider is actively involved in raising funds for the rescue helicopter prior to, and during, the tour. A support crew of volunteers and rescue helicopter staff also accompanies the tour. Trinity Drive Christmas Light-up DEC 13-24

The colourful annual Trinity Drive Christmas Lights Spectacular in Lismore is a fun family event that has enthralled thousands of visitors to Trinity Drive since it began in the mid-1990s. Running over 12 nights up until Christmas Eve, the Light-Up helps spread the Christmas spirit and raise money for the rescue helicopter. Up to 50,000 people travel to Trinity Drive each year to view the light-up spectacular. The displays are updated each year and Santa Claus and his helpers meet and greet the thousands of children and their families on arrival into the street. For more info, phone 6627 4444.
